After a few weeks of teasers and winks, Acura has finally torn the wraps off its last production NSX model – the Type S. The coupe debuted at the Monterey Car Week, and will be shipped in 350 units worldwide (300 in the USA).
The main highlight comes in the form of an improved hybrid powertrain now capable of 608 PS (600 hp / 447 kW). The old 3.5-liter V6 now works in tandem with dual turbos from the NSX GT3 Evo, which increases the boost pressure by six percent. Fuel injectors and cooling are new, and triple electric motors make sure the car is agile at all accelerations.
Acura made changes to the standard nine-speed transmission as well, resulting in up to 50% faster gear switching. A new Fast Reduction Gear mode has been added as well.
The NSX Type S rides on five-spoke forged rims wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires. Those willing to minimize curb weight may opt for carbon-ceramic brakes, a carbon engine bay lid, and the same décor for the interior.
Aerodynamic improvements include carbon-fiber front splitter, side sills, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and roof. The upholstery uses Alcantara, but you can specify different materials.
Pre-orders are already open starting from $169,500.
