Acura RSX gets an unofficial AWD turbo version

Front wheel drive is one of the main limiting factors in the affordable sports car segment of the market. The Acura RSX is a great car, but some wouldn’t have it without AWD. YouTuber That Racing Channel did things the hard way and built a custom drive system for the model.

First of all, though, the stock naturally aspirated engine was turbocharged to 514 PS (507 hp / 378 kW) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. There is a plan to bolster to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) later when the other modifications are complete.

For the AWD setup, the tuners used multiple parts sourced from the old Honda CR-V, as well as the driveshaft from a 30-year-old Honda Civic estate. Despite running on such mixed components, the RSX now drives the rear wheels with quite a bit of torque and no longer spins its front wheels when launched. The distribution ratio is far from 50/50 at this moment, but as the video suggests, it is still comfortable enough and lots of fun to drive.
