The large Aito M7 hybrid SUV has received an update on its domestic market of China. The new version is called “Ultra” and is already available for purchase in two five-seat and two six-seat configurations priced from 289,800 to 329,800 Yuan (U.S. $40,000–45,500).
The company said it had received over 6,000 confirmed preorders within the first hour from the launch, and was looking forward to delivering at least 20,000 vehicles to customers in June.
On the exterior side of things, the SUV ended up with a new blue finish, a solid faux grille and a couple of new wheel options. It was also outfitted with an improved roof-mounted LiDAR capable of scanning 250 m (820 ft) ahead – just like the Aito M9 before it. The company also equipped it with three millimeter-range radars and a dozen of ultrasonic ones, as well as 11 HD cameras. This entire hardware suite is used by the ADAS package known as the Huawei ADS 2.0, with a paid upgrade to version 3.0.
The dimensions stay the same at 5,020 x 1,945 x 1,760 mm (196 x 76 x 69 inches) with 2,820 mm (110 inches) between the axles. The interior layout is also unchanged, with the same 10.25-inch digital dash and 15.6-0inch head unit. However, the infotainment system now runs on the latest HarmonyOS from Huawei, which lets users plug in and use more devices simultaneously. The rear seat occupants can get their own 13.2-inch displays if desired.
Things stay the same under the hood. In China, the Huawei Aito M7 can be obtained with one motor at the rear axle making 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque or two motors driving both axles with 449 PS (443 hp / 330 kW) and 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) of torque. Both variants use a small 4.2-kWh battery pack that can only be charged from a 1.5-liter turbo engine used as a generator (no link to the wheels).
The RWD version has 240 km (149 miles) of CLTC-rated electric range and the AWD version has 210 km (130 miles). Once fully charged and refueled, the new Aito M7 can cover at least 1,250 km (777 miles).
