Alef Aeronautics announced an aerial electric car called Model A last fall and has been taking reservations against advance payments of $150 since then. However, it is only now that the FAA issued it a permission to begin actual tests – both on the ground and in the air.
Alef Aeronautics claims that it has already received an ‘impressive’ number of reservations from both private individuals and businesses. The first shipments will not begin until late 2025, though.
The full price of the EV is expected to come close to $300,000. With four electric motors and eight rotors at its disposal, it is expected to be capable of covering 177 km (110 miles) airborne or 322 km (200 miles) on the road. The actual capabilities remain to be assessed.
