Dodge Viper-based Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale goes up on sale for $699,000

The Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale series consists of only nine supercars produced to celebrate 100 years of the Italian luxury carmaker. Interestingly enough, each one is based on the 4th-gen Dodge Viper chassis.

Powering the TZ3 Stradale is a naturally aspirated V10 engine with 8.4 liters of displacement, 649 hp (485 kW) and 793 Nm (585 lb-ft) of torque. The transmission is six-speed manual, and the carbon-fiber body designed by Zagato reminds us of vintage Alfa Romeo TZ vehicles from the 1960s.

The cabin is much more opulent than that of the Viper. Leather and metal are used in abundance, and the dashboard design is new. The door cards, the handbrake and the audio system still betray the Dodge origins, however.

Alfa Romeo used the 8C Competizione chassis back in 2010 to launch the TZ3 Corsa special edition. Each car came equipped by a 4.2-liter Ferrari V8 and sported a carbon-fiber monocoque additionally reinforced with a tubular frame. The body panels were aluminum. The first concept car won the Villa d'Este Concours d’Elegance in Italy. Despite the obvious success, Alfa Romeo chose to switch to the Chrysler tech base for its new limited edition, the TZ3 Stradale. It happened shortly after Chrysler signed a partnership agreement with Fiat.

The particular dark brown car depicted here is the No. 7 in the series of 9. It was imported in the USA in 2013 and has only 525 miles (845 kilometers) on the odometer. The asking price is 699,000 USD.
