Alfa Romeo says ICE version of its newest supercar sells much better that EV

The Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale comes in two flavors to decide between – turbo V6 and all-electric. Larry Dominique, the company’s Senior VP in North America, just shared in an interview with Motor1 that most buyers opted for the petrol version.

The Italian company designed its new supercar to be compatible with two powertrain types, envisioning it as a future-proof model destined to bridge the gap between the ICE past and the EV future. According to Dominique, the automaker wished to demonstrate to its audience that the Alfa Romeo DNA was not tied to the engine type: you can create a legendary vehicle on any powertrain.

…Or, at least, that was the idea. As it turned out, very few buyers showed any interest at all in the electric version of the 33 Stradale. Granted, the production will not begin until June 24, 2024, meaning that those who have already pre-ordered a petrol version will be able to revert their decision and choose EV if they change their mind.

In its V6 TT 3.0 form, the 33 Stradale outputs 620 PS (612 hp / 456 kW). The electric counterpart is more powerful at 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW). Both sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in around three seconds and max out at 333 km/h (207 mph), so there should be no preferring one over the other based on stats alone. All 33 units scheduled for production have already been sold out.
