Stellantis and Qualcomm have signed a cooperation agreement to power the automotive alliance with 5G and Snapdragon Digital Chassis technologies.
All 14 cars brands comprising the group, including Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Dodge, DS, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, RAM and Vauxhall, as well as their commercial transports and in-house tuning departments, will receive access to this new tech. People buying Stellantis cars will take advantage of cutting-edge tech, personalization, and regular updates.
In the meantime, Stellantis plans on unitizing its model range further to cut as much as possible on manufacturing and assembly. The partnership will also guarantee that the alliance gets all crucial electronic supplies reliably and on schedule.
Amazon and Foxconn are also cooperating with the automotive giant to help it improve the STLA SmartCockpit infotainment system. New features unlocked by a switch to the Snapdragon chipset will enable displaying high-resolution photos and videos, recognize voice commands better, improve the sound quality of the on-board speaker system, and raise the standard of Bluetooth connectivity. In addition to all of the above, the company plans to integrate an AI in the system.
The first product to reach the market will be a new infotainment system set to debut on a Maserati vehicle sometime in the future.
