Revived Abarth Classiche 1000 SP bows with a €260k price tag

11 years ago, Italian company Abarth introduced a concept named 1000 SP inspired by a racecar under the same name dating back to 1966. Now, the company has announced the coming of a small batch of such cars based on the Alfa Romeo 4C platform and priced starting from €260,000.

Starting with the most important part – the powertrain – it stays completely stock. A 1.75-liter turbo four-cylinder engine under the hood still drives the wheels with 240 PS (237 hp / 177 kW). The bodywork is new, but the material composition is the same with a carbon monocoque in the middle and an aluminum nose. The most noteworthy design features include a quartet of small headlamps, a massive air intake in the hood, and a tiny front grille.

With a curb weight of just 1,074 kg (2,368 lbs), the sports car can reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Four-piston Brembo calipers and perforated, ventilated rotors should be enough to control the acceleration.

The first car is currently exhibited at the Padua Motor Show in Italy. It is unclear how many units Abarth plans to produce, but representatives of the company said ‘five at most’ last year.
