Alfa Romeo CEO Danny Pritt said the company would discontinue the production of the two-door Alfa Romeo 4C model. Its open-top variant will still be produced, though.
The decision seems rather sound, given that the market demand for the Alfa Romeo 4C has been steadily falling during the past several years. Over 660 cars were sold in the USA in 2015, followed by only 400 in 2017. Europe isn’t far ahead with only 870 units in 2017, as opposed to almost 1,050 in 2015.
As already mentioned before, the open-top Alfa Romeo 4C Spider will remain in production. Furthermore, its price is going to go up $2,000 to U.S. $66,900.
The Italian coupe celebrated its market premiere in 2013, packing a 1.7-liter turbo engine with 240 hp (179 kW), performance tires, large-diameter wheels and sport-grade suspension.
