A number of photos cropped up online the other day allegedly showing the small Alfa Romeo crossover scheduled to debut next year based on Jeep Avenger platform (see video). CarBuzz, which published the images, did not explain why the car looks so different from the Avenger.
The low-resolution shots reveal a rather original-looking Alfa Romeo CUV with a stamped hood, aggressive bumpers, unusual shoulder line and a sporty overall silhouette making it look more like a high-riding hatchback. The poster claims the car will be the smallest crossover to wear the Alfa Romeo badge when it goes on sale.
Some of the pics show a battery being charged and the power distribution. It looks like at least one powertrain will be fully electric – it could also offer an optional AWD. The Jeep Avenger is available with an electric motor rated at roughly 150 horsepower. Its architecture allows for using conventional engines, too.
One of the theories goes that Alfa Romeo may revive its ‘Alfetta’ badge for the CUV. Back in the 1970s, the company produced a compact vehicle under that name. On the other hand, we heard reports back in 2022 that a small utility vehicle called ‘Brennero’ was in the works, so that one is also possible.
