An exceedingly rare Alfa Romeo rally car boasting a Ferrari V8 has been recovered from a shed in Great Britain.
Andrew Burton built this racer for the World Rally Championship in the early 1990s. He gave it a 3.0-liter V8 borrowed from a Ferrari 308 and spliced the bodyworks of two different Alfa Romeo models for a unique look. He also procured Ford RS200 rear suspension and an Opel Manta 400 hood for the project. A five-speed manual transmission with tuned gear ratios sends an unspecified amount of power to the wheels.
The Ferrari-swapped Alfa proceeded to have a rally career until its engine blew up in 1996. It was stored away in a shed and apparently forgotten. We still don’t know what the owner plans do with it. In all likelihood, they will either hand it over for restoration or put it up for sale in its present condition.
