Alfa Romeo is currently developing the next generation of its 8C supercar series. According to automotive news media, the vehicle may receive a hybrid drivetrain that would enable it to rival even the strongest of Ferrari vehicles.
More specifically, the new Alfa Romeo 8ะก is reported to be a mid-engine, monocoque-type vehicle made out of carbon and packing a 2.9-liter, 6-cylinder, twin-turbo engine (the same as in the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio).
The most current version of the engine produces 500 hp (373 kW), but it may well receive a boost to 600 hp (447 kW) in the next generation. Partnered with a 200hp / 150kW electric motor, it will deliver a total of 800 hp / 596 kW on the drivetrain, which is 100 hp or 75 kW over what the Ferrari 488 Pista can do.
Launch date and prices remain unknown.
