Alfa Romeo Giulia set to receive an electric Shooting Brake version

The Alfa Romeo Giulia is looking forward to transforming into a five-door all-electric estate car that will combine the best of the sedan and wagon worlds in one body, according to the company’s CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato.

Speaking with the media the other day, Imparato confirmed that the design division of Alfa Romeo was already working on such a car. He added that the marque would hold off getting rid of sedans on the lineup – after all, the sedan DNA is strong within Alfa Romeo – but it will attempt to win more audiences over with an estate car running on battery power.

He revealed other intriguing plans as well. Apparently, the company intends to design a compact crossover SUV in a few years, which is expected to be named ‘Brennero’. After that one, Alfa Romeo plans to unveil one EV per year. The list will include a full-size SUV and a rather small car envisioned to compete with the BMW i4 and the Tesla Model 3. The latter will feature a ‘four-door coupe’ body and could be named GTV, reviving the famous abbreviation once more.

All new cars will come based on Stellantis platforms, but Alfa Romeo will make sure to redesign them sufficiently to avoid any unfavorable comparisons. It is expected that Stellantis will approve merging its STLA architecture with the Italian automaker’s own Giorgio platform for a unique approach.
