Next-gen Alfa Romeo Giulia’s specs suggest it may have 500 mi / 800 km of range

As we have just reported, Alfa Romeo stays committed to further producing and improving its Giulia sedan. The car is due a facelift soon, but when the next generation comes, it will be all-electric. Here are some of its preliminary characteristics.

The new Giulia will be based on the STLA Large platform that supports traction batteries sized up to 118 kWh. This may give it up to 800 km (497 miles) of driving range – a distinct advantage over most of the competition. Even the Mercedes EQS has a bit less battery juice with its 783 km (486 miles) of range.

It is also official that the Italian saloon will be able to replenish charge fast. A single minute of charging will net you 32 km (20 miles) of driving.

However, if you look at Alfa Romeo right now, it might be hard to see a company dedicated to producing all-electric cars. The only production EV on the market right now is the Tonale SUV, which is a hybrid capable of 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) and 48 km (30 miles) of all-electric range.
