Zagato-tuned Alfa Romeo Giulia shows up on new teasers

Zagato has shared more photos of its individual rendition of the Alfa Romeo Giulia, focusing on isolated exterior elements and its gasoline engine, debunking the earlier rumors about the car being an EV. The full reveal should follow soon.

Among other things, the images show an air intake, a part of the wheel rim, and carbon-fiber front seat backs. Another teaser hints at a 2.9-liter V6 under the hood. Alfa Romeo only put this engine into high-end Giulia versions: for instance, the GTAm spec coaxed 540 PS (533 hp / 397 kW) out of it. We wouldn’t be surprised if Zagato decided to ramp up the power some more, either.

Another interesting thing is hidden in the name of the project, Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato. The abbreviation ‘SWB’ most likely stands for ‘short wheelbase’ and is not a typical feature of luxury sedans. As such, we might be looking at a sedan-to-coupe conversion here. At any rate, what little we have seen so far suggests a fashionable classic look referencing the Italian carmaker’s older models.

The sales start remains penciled in for spring 2023.
