Alfa Romeo only built around a dozen Giulia TZ2 racecars in the early 1960s. It let some of them settle in private collections, but one of the owners felt that turning his car into a museum exhibit would be a waste. Here’s what ensued.
The video, provided by RSRNurburg on YouTube, shows a retro racer cruising down the Spa-Francorchamps track with its 73-year-old owner behind the wheel. We are told that the man is a huge Alfa Romeo fan and that his car was built in 1965, making it one of the final production units.
Power for the Giulia TZ2 comes from a 1.6-liter engine tuned to 185 PS (182 hp / 136 kW). Do not underestimate the power, though: the retro car weighs barely more than 600 kilograms (1,322 pounds) and makes faster corners than modern Porsches, the driver says.
