Alfa Romeo has posted an update on its first production EV. Called the Milano, it is a compact crossover utility vehicle that’s currently wrapping up pre-production tests at the company’s famous Circuito di Balocco track. The premiere is scheduled for April 10, 2024.
The Milano is currently being fine-tuned by the same team of engineers that created the iconic 4C and 8C sports cars, the high-end Giulia and Stelvio variants including the ultimate Giulia GTA, and the 33 Stradale supercar. The goal is to achieve the best handling and dynamics in the segment.
These images of a camouflaged prototype are all we have right now. The interior hasn’t been shown yet. It seems possible that the Milano is based on the STLA Small architecture underpinning the Fiat 600 and the latest Jeep Avenger. STLA Small had been designed by Groupe PSA together with Dongfeng before its merger with Stellantis.
All technical specifications are being kept secret so far. All we know is that the EV will be sized slightly smaller than the Tonale SUV, which means it will fit straight into Europe’s favorite B-Class. Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato said earlier that the Milano’s mission would be bringing back those fans of the Italian brand who had preferred its smaller vehicles, like the MiTo or the Giulietta.
