Italian premium carmaker Alfa Romeo says it has revised its product range for the future, choosing to focus on SUV production at the expense of abandoning the sports car segment.
Previously, the company said it intended to update its GTV and 8C to a new generation, but in the end, it chose to optimize the lineup by cutting everything but the best-selling models. According to the new plan, the Giulia sedan/saloon and the Stelvio CUV will be the only two models to receive an update in 2021. Alfa Romeo had originally planned to release long-wheelbase versions of both cars, but those have also fallen victim to the optimization.
As such, AR’s roadmap for the nearest future includes only two SUVs. In all likelihood, one of these is the production version of the Tonale Concept. It should debut in 2020 and later get a hybrid version. The other one is allegedly an all-electric SUV that will come to replace the Giulietta hatchback eventually.
