Dodge wants to introduce a new crossover utility vehicle to replace its outdated Journey model, and it will be using the Alfa Romeo Stelvio chassis and tech for it.
First rumors claiming that the U.S. carmaker was looking into working with the Giorgio platform of the Stelvio and Giulia cropped up three years ago. While still not official, multiple sources have reported that the work on the new SUV is in full swing already. The car will reportedly ship with a few Alfa Romeo-made engines to choose from, including the 2.0-liter turbo-four mill rated at 280 hp (209 kW) and 400 Nm (298 lb-ft) of torque as the entry-level option. The top trim configurations may get USA-made HEMI engines.
Looks will be the one area where the new Dodge will be drastically different from the Alfa Romeo. The sources report that the car will be styled in the same vein as the Charger and Challenger. We will not know whether any of this is true until the launch in 2022, though.
