Alfa Romeo to revive GTV, introduce several new models

The future Alfa Romeo lineup will include three crossover SUVs, a mid-size sedan, a compact hatchback, a flagship coupe, and possibly a spider car as well.

The Tonale SUV, which is featured in the gallery and the video here, will come first and be the company’s last model to share the technical underpinnings with the Jeep Compass. It will debut early next year built on the Small Wide LWB chassis and go into production in March.

A compact-sized Brennero CUV will join the lineup in 2023 riding on the same STLA Small (CMP) architecture as the Peugeot 2008 and Opel Mokka. It will have an all-electric version, becoming the marque’s first EV on record.

The Giulia and the Stelvio will go into new generation after that. Both will switch to the STLA Large platform best suited for hybrids and all-electric cars. The longest-range versions will have up to 800 kilometers (497 miles) of driving range on a charge.

An all-new model named GTV will join the lineup later based on the same platform. The company first announced it three years ago, presenting it as an all-wheel-drive hybrid vehicle with around 600 PS (592 hp / 441 kW) at its disposal. Later on, the concept has changed, and the car is currently envisioned as an all-electric ‘four-door coupe’ to rival the BMW i4 and the Tesla Model 3.

All of the cars listed above have been officially confirmed by Alfa Romeo. Insiders speak of two more models, though. Among other things, the company might want to revive the MiTo five-door hatchback based on STLA Small underpinnings. This, and its new CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato is rumored to be thinking of reviving the two-door Spider model. The latter may not be possible until the automaker breaks even and becomes profitable again, though.
