Alpina B4 Gran Coupe spied testing for the first time

Remember the rumors that the next-gen Alpina B4 would gain another couple of doors for practical reasons? Well, this definitely appears to be the case on these freshly taken spy photos.

The biggest change is perhaps found in the back, where a powerful quad-pipe exhaust system can be seen. How do we know it is an Alpina, though? Look for the letters ‘OAL’ on the license plate. These letters are reserved for the region of Buchloe, Germany, where the renowned BMW tuner has its headquarters. This, and BMW introduced its 4-Door Gran Coupe in early June, so the camouflaged prototype isn’t OEM.

That said, in all likelihood Alpina will keep the two-door B4 on the market, too (watch the video for a reminder of what it looks like). The vehicle spotted testing today must be the tuner’s own take on the M4 Gran Coupe, which BMW refused to make.

We should expect the launch sometime in late 2021 or early 2022, and it is going to be the first B4 Gran Coupe sedan on record. Rumor has it it might offer north of 462 PS (456 hp / 340 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, sprinting 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under four seconds.
