Rare Alpina coupe heading to auction estimated at $100k

A 1986 Alpina B7 Turbo Coupe/1 will be available for bidding in a few days with the expected selling price between $90,000 and $110,000. It is number 58 in a production run of 110 such vehicles based on the E24 BMW 6-Series, and it would probably have cost much higher if not for the mileage.

The Alpina B7 (see video) introduced a number of improvements over the stock 6-Series, such as a body kit, custom wheels and Bilstein suspension components. Most importantly, it offered a class-leading 3.5-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine pumping out 334 PS (329 hp / 246 kW), more than any stock BMW engine did back at the time.

The coupe shipped exclusively with a Getrag five-speed manual transmission and a lockable differential. The production began in April 1984 and lasted through August 1987.

This particular example was additionally adorned with Alpina’s signature exterior graphics, outfitted with Recaro seats and optioned with a power sunroof. The seller claims all the drivetrain units and even the exterior paint are original. Up until 2015, the coupe had stayed in Germany, where it had two owners. It is currently located in Switzerland. The current owner and seller says he only put 200 km (124 miles) on it, but the odometer shows a total of 122,900 km (76,367 miles) of use.
