Alpina D4 S Gran Coupe breaks cover, due out in September

Alpina has unveiled its own take on the BMW 4-Series liftback not long after revealing the D3 S. The new car comes powered by the same diesel engine boosted to 355 PS (350 hp / 261 kW) with a 4.8-second sprint time.

Shipments are slated to begin in September starting from €79,700 for the most basic trim level. For the sake of comparison, a regular BMW 430d Gran Coupe will set you back €61,500 in Germany.

The tuned powertrain pumps out 730 Nm (538 lb-ft) of torque in the range between 1,750 and 2,750 RPM. A sports-grade eight-speed transmission drives the wheels, letting the liftback accelerate up to 270 km/h (167 mph).

In contrast, the stock BMW 430d gets only 286 PS (282 hp / 210 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque out of the same displacement. This enables it to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 5.3 seconds and max out at 250 km/h (155 mph).

In addition to the power boost, the car features upgraded suspension with three presets and heavy-duty brakes with 396-mm (15.5-inch) rotors and four-piston calipers.

On the outside, you will tell the Alpina D4 S Gran Coupe from its mass-market counterpart by a distinctive front splitter with the tuner’s name on it, a rear diffuser with four exhaust tips, and original 20-inch wheels. The interior trim mostly involves Lavalina leather.
