Despite the growing EV segment, there is still a market for powerful diesels, and no one makes a high-performance diesel like Alpina, BMW’s in-house tuning shop as of late.
The video below was filmed by the AutoTopNL crew and stars the XD3. The model was refreshed in the summer of 2021 and utilizes a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel six-pot rated at 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission conveys the momentum to all four wheels.
The paper specs mention a standard launch time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 267 km/h (166 mph), which is very impressive for a bulky SUV running on heavy fuel. That said, is it really as good? Watch and find out!
