Carmaker Alpine plans to go all-electric in a few years’ time (see video). Its first EV will be a hot hatch set to debut on Tuesday, May 9.
Rather than showing us the production car, the company will be unveiling an early design study called A290_β (A290 Beta). It will not reach production until 2025.
The Greek letter ‘β’ in the name actually refers to the beta status of the software powering the car – the company admits it is still in development. By the time it reaches the assembly line, the car will have shed this suffix.
Alpine did not go into any further details than this, but promised to reveal more on May 9.
