In May this year, French automaker Alpine unveiled a concept car named A290_β, presenting it as a sportier alternative to the revived Renault 5. It said the production car would not arrive until 2024, but the first prototypes have already been spotted on public roads.
The electric A290 wears full-body camouflage that nonetheless cannot hide the fact that there are four doors (the ‘beta version’, as Alpine called the concept, only had two doors).
It seems that the company is still resolute to preserve the unusual wheel design with a square ornament in the middle in the production car. On the other hand, the wheel diameter looks visibly smaller than the concept’s 20 inches. The front fascia manages to look aggressive even through the camo, and there are some weird aerodynamic components on the hood (we doubt that they will make it into production, though).
