Modded Alpine A110 goes up against Porsche Cayman GT, Audi TT RS & Toyota Supra

Two years ago, French carmaker Alpine has announced the resurrection of the legendary A110 sports car series; later that year, first cars began rolling off the lines. But many of those who still remembered the classics from the 1960s and 70s were not too impressed.

The matter is, the new Alpine A110 comes equipped with a rather humble inline-four engine good for 252 horsepower (188 kilowatts). Thanks to its highly efficient transmission, low curb weight and sophisticated aerodynamics, the car still sprints 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.5 seconds and completes a quarter-mile in 12.7 s – but this is far from exciting by modern standards.

Around a month ago, British tuner Litchfeld released its first tuning kit for theAlpine A110, raising its output to 300 hp (224 kW). Some time later, it arranged for a drag race between the A110 and the Toyota Supra, Audi TT RS, and Porsche Cayman GT.

Would the 48-hp (36-kW) power surplus be enough for the Alpine to best any of its direct competitors? Let us see!
