French automaker Alpine will hold an online auction starting later today, offering a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) for the images of a virtual concept car named the GTA.
Drawn by Arseniy Kostromin, the five pictures show the same car decorated with five different racing liveries. The Russian designer took the A110 Berlinette as the starting point and outfitted it with an aggressive-looking aero kit complete with an impressive front bumper, vented hood, a diffuser, and an elaborate rear wing.
One of the concept images shows the imaginary car in a blue Alpine paintjob, while another reimagines it with an Alpine racing livery on. The third one is finished in matte black with a stylized letter ‘A’ on the sides, while the fourth symbolizes a transition between the rear world and the virtual. Finally, the fifth image uses typographical characters hiding the coordinates of the Mont Blanc.
This is not the first time virtual images of cars were converted into NFT tokens. For example, a buyer paid $220,000 USD for a dynamic picture of a Nissan GT-R and a real car at the Rubix Auction in September. In May, the Lykan HyperSport from Furious 7 also went up on sale in this virtual form.
