Alpine and Belgian conceptual artist Arne Quinze have teamed up to produce a sculpture called the A110 Metamorphosis. Based on the marque’s only mass-produced car – the A110 – it is meant to give us an idea about the transports of the future, as well as ‘organic forms in the service of technology.’
According to Quinze, the project embodies a unity between the driver and the vehicle, the human and the technology, speed and nature. It represents a naked body of the sports car adorned with bent metal sheets cut into biological shapes with lots of round holes in them.
The artist explains the lack of wheels and the ‘hovering’ stature of the car by his lifelong dream of seeing cars that could glide on air, no wheels required. The dynamic lighting is meant to represent the ‘speed potential’ of the futuristic racer.
The art car had been exhibited at the company’s art space in Paris, France over the past weekend. It has since been removed.
