Aspark Owl sets two new records

The Japan-made electric hypercar has set eighth-mile and quarter-mile acceleration records among production cars worldwide.

From a standing start, the Owl accelerated to 309.02 km/h (192.02 mph) on a drag strip stretch just 201 meters (one-eighth of a mile) long. It managed to get to 318.85 km/h (198.12 mph) on a 402-meter (quarter-mile) stretch. The low difference between these two numbers goes on to illustrate just how lightning-fast the EV is at its initial launch acceleration. Armed with four high-end motors, it slams the wheels with 2,012 PS (1,984 hp / 1,480 kW). The driving range on a charge is estimated at 450 km, or 280 miles.

The test crew said they deliberately did not measure any 0-96.6 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint times. In the fall of 2020, Aspark said the hypercar was on its way to hit that speed in 1.72 seconds.
