Aston Martin has finally taken the wraps off its upcoming hypercar packing a 1,000-horsepower (745-kilowatt) engine. The company refuses to give its No. 003 model a name this early on, but rumors persist that it will be called “Valhalla”.
The alleged A.M. Valhalla will occupy the market position below the Valkyrie, while still surpassing its immediate competition – the McLaren 720S and the Ferrari 488 GTB – in terms of raw performance.
Based on the teaser image, the car sports a more classical body design that the Valkyrie, but the two have nearly identical rear diffuser and air tunnels. Also visible are narrow-slit headlights, wide wheel arches and original exhaust tips that occupy the upper part of the vehicle’s rear, just like its engine.
In an earlier announcement, the manufacturer said the hypercar would be getting a hybrid powertrain rated somewhere between 800 and 1,000 hp (600 to 750 kilowatts). It would also be largely based on lightweight body and chassis components, which should make it similar in specs to F1 racecars.
The Aston Martin Valhalla will emerge in a series of just 500 units, with first cars rolling out to their respective owners starting in 2021.
