Classic Motor Cars, an auto restoration shop from Bridgnorth, England, will restore this unique Aston Martin Bulldog supercar that emerged as a design study in 1979.
Reportedly, the company designed it to showcase the manufacturing capacities of its Newport Pagnell tech center. Back then, the engineering crew made every effort to accelerate it to the projected maximum speed of 200 miles per hour (322 km/h) and thus help the Bulldog secure the title of the world’s fastest-going production car.
They never succeeded, though, and the planned production run of between 15 and 25 units never came to be. Aston Martin terminated the project as too expensive after only one finished unit.
Four decades later, the show car’s current owner decided to restore its 5.3-liter twin-turbo V8 with its 608 hp (453 kW) to top condition – and hopefully get it to accelerate beyond 200 mph at long last. He contracted Classic Motor Cars for the job.
The company says it will need at least 18 months to get everything in perfect working order.
