The British private auction house Bonhams said it would hold an auction this summer for a highly unique Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato 2 VEV sports car produced in 1961.
Only two vehicles of its kind have ever been assembled by Aston Martin Works as part of a privately-funded, unofficial project. Now it is expected to sell for at least £15,000,000.
Let’s have a brief retrospective. Back in the 1960s, the vehicle used to be the main contender of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB and Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta on the international racing arena. It was bought for private use in late 1962 and has changed quite a few hands since then.
Afterwards, the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato 2 VEV has frequently participated in retro car races. However, Aston Martin had to recreate it virtually from scratch after it experienced a heavy crash in 1993.
The DB4GT Zagato veteran car comes equipped with a 3.7-liter, six-cylinder inline engine capable of 314 horsepower and 344 Nm of torque. It can accelerate to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds and ultimately reach 247 km/h (153.5 mph).
