Cosworth – a company which is developing the drivetrain for the Aston Martin Valkyrie – has revealed details concerning the naturally-aspirated engine of the hypercar.
Apparently, the hybrid-powered Aston Martin Valkyrie will be getting a 6.5L unit with 1,146 hp / 855 kW, described as “the most powerful engine a street-legal vehicle ever had”. It will dethrone the Ferrari 812 Superfast armed with a V12 capable of 800 hp.
Cosworth neglected to mention, however, whether the 1,146 hp is the power of the gasoline engine or the total output of the hybrid drivetrain. All of the car’s electrical components are being developed by another company, the Croatia-based hypercar builder Rimac.
Whatever the actual case, the sheer power of the Aston Martin Valkyrie will surpass not only that of the Ferrari 812, but also of the Aston Martin Vulcan AMR Pro and Mazzanti Evantra.
