Aston Martin has come to the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Great Britain with a tiny town car Cygnet armed with a disproportionately humongous V8 engine taken straight out of a Vantage S.
The ultra-compact vehicle exists in a single copy and features a stainless-steel body, a roll cage, a large transmission tunnel and a front bulkhead. It inherits the suspension, the sub-frame and the engine from the Vantage S coupe series. The latter has 4.7 liters of displacement room and commands nearly 440 hp (328 kW), working in conjunction with an advanced semi-automatic transmission.
The modded Aston Martin Cygnet accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in hardly more than 4 seconds – full 7 seconds faster than the production vehicle can.
Other highlights include carbon wheel arches, 19” forged wheels, stronger brakes, limited slip differential gear and centrally-aligned exhaust pipes.
The manufacturer did not say anything about the future fate of the hardcore Aston Martin Cygnet mod. Perhaps the vehicle will be sold at an auction when the festival is over.
