Aston Martin schedules first EV for 2025, says the DB11 and Vantage will go

Speaking in a recent interview, Aston Martin CEO Tobias Moers confirmed that the first fully electric car with the AM badge on it would come out in 2025 and send one of the mid-engined ICE models to its retirement.

He did not specify which one will be the first to leave the market, but Aston Martin has been working on phasing out non-hybridized V8 and V12 engines for a while now. According to the current strategy, the Valkyrie Hybrid should go on sale in September, followed by a DBX PHEV in 2023 and a Vanquish EV shortly afterwards.

New electric cars will also eventually replace all current Superleggera, Vantage and DB11 variants. There are no details so far except the range, which Moers said would be at least as good as 600 kilometers (373 miles).

It is worth pointing out that the DB11 model, which is featured in our gallery here, has become the marque’s first true innovation after a long pause. It was ex-CEO Andy Palmer’s pilot project in the company. Palmer had intended to produce a whole lineup of all-electric cars, but these plans were postponed when Lawrence Stroll, new Chairman of the Board, came into office.
