The Aston Martin DB12 Goldfinger Edition celebrated 60 years since the premiere of the legendary James Bond movie and is coming to the market in a production run capped at 60 units.
The modifications are largely aesthetic. The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood comes from Mercedes-AMG and drives the rear wheels with 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW). An eight-speed automatic transmission maxes out at 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. A limited-slip differential is included for better control.
The exterior of the car is finished in the same shade of silver as the original DB5 that starred in the Goldfinger movie. A peek through 21-inch alloy wheels reveals black brake calipers, and company badges can be seen throughout.
Note the letter ‘Q’ on the bumper. It simultaneously refers to the Q subdivision of Aston Martin responsible for high-end customization and to the MI6 division that supplied Agent 007 with his spy gadgets in the movie.
A look at the interior trim evokes associations with the classic DB5 and the stitching on Bond’s suit. Select dials and switches on the console are finished with 18-carat gold, and certain trim bits are adorned with golden thread for good measure.
An eight of hearts is embroidered on the driver’s sun visor in yet another allusion to the action drama.
All buyers will be getting a slew of movie-themed souvenirs with their purchase.
