The first production example of the Aston Martin DB2 will be crossing the auction block in the UK soon, expected to attract at least £250,000 or more. The 72-year-old car is being sold in a completely torn-down state, meaning you will not be driving it from the auction.
A team of professionals is currently restoring the DB2. The chassis and the drivetrain are already complete, an original engine procured for a swap (this example had been earlier swapped to a Jaguar engine), and the body primed for spraying. The seller claims the car is complete and comes with a separate box of spare parts. Once put together by whoever buys it, it will be fully equipped and in drivable condition.
The listing claims David Brown himself drove this DB2 back in the time. 75 years ago, the famous engineer purchased Aston Martin and Lagonda brands, launching a spinoff series of ‘DB’ cars named after his initials. A total of 411 DB2 units was made, each equipped with a 2.6-liter inline-six engine rated at 105 PS (104 hp / 77 kW).
