Aston Martin has revealed the appearance of its DBS Superleggera sport coupe ahead of the official premiere. Once it reaches the market, the car will mostly have to compete against the Ferrari 812 Superfast.
The sporty vehicle benefits from a light aluminum platform and a part-carbon body. At 1,700 kilograms (3,750 lb), it is 70 kg (154 lb) lighter than its sibling, the Aston Martin DB11. It also features a front splitter and additional air openings for an extra 180 kg / 400 lb of downforce.
The engine compartment of the racecar holds a 5.2-liter V12 turbo engine with 725 hp (540 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb·ft) of torque, working in tandem with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The vehicle accelerates to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 3.4 seconds.
Aside from the above, the upcoming Aston Martin DBS Superleggera features carbon-ceramic disk brakes, a high-flow exhaust system and adjustable sport suspension with the self-locking differential.
Sales will begin before the end of the year with prices starting at approximately U.S. $300,000.
