Aston Martin has revealed some information about its upcoming SUV, the DBX.
It is official now that the premiere will be held in December. The car will originally ship packing a 4.0-liter twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG V8 engine rated at 550 hp (406 kW) and 700 Nm (516 pound-feet) of torque. The same engine model is used in six currently available AMG sport cars, as well as their technological twins.
Aside from this, the SUV is expected to get a 3.0-liter V6, a 5.2-liter V12, and a hybrid powertrain based on a six-cylinder engine (maybe the same as in the Valhalla coupe). Finally, an all-electric variant might join the lineup in the future. That said, only the V8 is officially confirmed for now.
The SUV will become Aston Martin’s strongest eight-cylinder vehicle on the market. To put things into perspetive, the DB11 produces 510 hp (380 kW) and 675 Nm (498 lb-ft) of torque, while the Vantage has 510 hp (380 kW) and 685 Nm (505 lb-ft) at its disposal.
The company promises that the top speed of the DBX will lie ‘considerably above 290 km/h,’ or 180 mph.

Once out, the model will likely face the most competition from the Lamborghini Urus, Maserati Levante GTS/Trofeo, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and ultimately also from the Ferrari Purosangue.
The company claims the SUV has the same cornering performance as the Vantage while braking even harder than the DBS Superleggera. It even cites the Nürburgring lap time: 8 minutes. While quite impressive as is, this is still slightly below the results of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S (7:49.369) and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio (7:51.7).
The Aston Martin DBX will be produced at the new factory in St. Athan, Wales, where the company will later start assembling its first battery EV (Rapide E) and e-SUV (Lagonda All-Terrain).
