Aston Martin DBX outsells all other marque’s cars combined in 2021

Throughout the three quarters of 2021, Aston Martin sold more units of its DBX crossover SUV than all other cars combined, raising the overall sales volume by 173%.

In January-September this year, the British automaker has moved 4,250 vehicles, including 2,186 DBX models. The second most popular category was GT (DBS and DB11) at 1,043 units, and the third most popular was the Vantage lineup of the Sport category at 959 units. The remaining two categories had much slower sales.

Region-wise, USA proved the most lucrative market for Aston Martin at 1,438 units sold there, followed by South Pacific Area (1,186), EMEA (898) and the UK (728).

The Aston Martin DBX only debuted a few years ago and went into production last year. The model is a luxury crossover SUV based on an aluminum chassis, with a body 5,039 millimeters long, air suspension and 235 mm of ground clearance. A four-liter Mercedes-AMG V8 churns out 550 PS (542 hp / 404 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels through an electronic transfer box and rear differential.

Over the next three years, the company plans to introduce multiple new versions of its highly profitable SUV, including different body variants and powertrains. The current strategy envisions six such versions.
