William Towns, the talented mind behind the original Aston Martin Lagonda, established a company named Interstyl Design several decades ago to sell kit cars named “Hustler”. Let us review one particularly interesting example.

Before we begin, keep in mind that the company has only ever sold blueprints, so the entire bodywork and even the engine and drivetrain were up to the buyers to procure and piece together. Around 500 such kits was sold (it is anyone’s guess how many cars was actually assembled), and this specimen currently goes for €11,000.

Built in 1982 by Shepard couple, the vehicle has never changed ownership and has only been driven for 8,400 kilometers (5,220 miles). Every Hustler is special because every bodywork is different, but this one still stands out from most with its brethren.

The entire body and cabin are lined with ship plywood. Most of the powertrain stems from Mini, the headlights are Hillman Avenger, and the taillights are Triumph Dolomite. Mini Cooper supplies the front disc brakes, while Citroen supplies the windshield wipers. The seats are Daimler Sovereign, the steering wheel is a Wood & Pickett, and a Sharp cassette player is still functional.

The seller claims the vehicle is in near-perfect condition and comes with the entire package of documents, including maintenance bills. It is bundled with a letter undersigned by William Towns himself, as well as a heap of 1980s-era car magazines.
