Rusted-out Aston Martin Lagonda being modified to run on battery power

The original Aston Martin Lagonda was a large, luxury-laden saloon from the 1970s that was neither unique nor reliable and mostly went down in history as a hugely overpriced disaster on wheels. Imagine it being remodeled into a high-performance EV now.

The corresponding intention is made clear in a recent YouTube video by furiousdriving. The tuner admits he got his hands on what could be the world’s worst surviving Lagonda, what with the ubiquitous rot and rust. The floor in particular has rotted away by now, but this is less of an issue than you might think: an EV conversion usually means putting some batteries under the bottom, so it will have to be redone from scratch, anyway.

Various powertrain options are being considered for the project, including Tesla, but we will have to wait and see what the electromod ends up with.

As a funny aside, Aston Martin made barely more than 600 units of the Lagonda, and they quickly became infamous for their electronic system quirks and malfunctions. Wouldn’t it be darkly ironic to have one remade on modern electric components? What do you think?
