This four-year-old Aston Martin Lagonda Taraf belongs to a series of only around 120 such sedans, most of which were exported to Middle East countries. These vehicles cost more than $1,000,000 new and hardly ever showed up at auctions, but this example goes for just $800,000.
Aston Martin had planned no more than 100 units for the Middle East region. Later on, it realized that the model could be popular in other countries as well and revised the production volume to 200 units. However, contrary to expectations, the supercar never caught on with the clientele in the United States and Europe. Prohibitive pricing was cited as one of the main reasons: the car once was the world’s most expensive production sedan (see video for details).
This example is on sale in Beverly-Hills, and the dealership claims it is being offered in “as-new” condition with 140 km (87 miles) on the odometer.
A six-liter, 12-cylinder engine drives the wheels with 560 PS (552 hp / 412 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque through a ZF eight-speed automatic.
According to Motor1, the car has a “Show or Display” legal status in the USA which could explain the discount. Cars registered under this category are capped at 2,500 miles (slightly over 4,000 kilometers) of annual mileage on public roads.
