Just before the permanent transition of the Rapide large liftback series to the electrified drivetrain, the British car manufacturer Aston Martin has decided not to let the gasoline-powered Rapide AMR Concept first shown at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show leave the scene without applause. Welcome the performance-packed Rapide AMR.
Perhaps the main advantage of the top-of-the-line Aston Martin Rapide AMR lies hidden under the hood. The vehicle commands an improved stock 560hp / 417 kW strong engine which now produces up to 603 hp / 450 kW. A more immediately distinguishing feature comes in the form of a loud engine roar, made possible thanks to a new exhaust system.
At 4.4 seconds, the standard 0-100 (0-60 mph) acceleration time remains unchanged, but the top going speed rises to 330 km/h (205 mph). According to the manufacturer, the vehicle is now better suited to the race track owing to its reworked suspension, lower road clearance and heavy-duty carbon-ceramic brakes. By the way, efficient cooling of the latter necessitated the reversal of the air cooling ducts.
On the outside, the Aston Martin Rapide AMR boasts new headlights, a nostril hood, a redesigned radiator grille, a fresh body kit including front and rear bumpers, door sills, a carbon splitter, a spoiler and a diffusor.
The interior features expensive carbon/chamois finishing. Optional equipment includes a gorgeous steering wheel similar to that of the Aston Martin One-77 hypercar.
Aston Martin plans to produce a small batch of just 210 Aston Martin Rapide AMR priced at £195,000 each. Sales will begin in late 2018.
