Video: Listen to the Aston Martin Valhalla engine in action

Aston Martin has posted a video demonstrating the soundtrack of its brand-new, in-house-designed V6 – the first independent design the company has made in the past 52 years.

The unit received the name ‘TM01’ after Tadeusz ‘Tadek’ Marek, famous Polish engineer who worked for AM in the mid-20th century. It boasts three liters of displacement room and has an assisting electric motor, as well as a turbocharger system.

The exact specs will only become available in a couple years from now, when the Valhalla reaches the production-ready stage. It is expected that the car will pack around 1,000 horsepower (750 kilowatts) in total, but how much of this will be contributed by the electric motor is unknown. At any rate, the new V6 should be Aston Martin’s strongest engine on the lineup by the time it comes out.

AM CEO Andy Palmer believes that the substantial investment put into the research and development of the 200kg (440lbs) unit will return with a profit if the Valhalla proves popular enough among customers.

Only 500 units of the Aston Martin Valhalla are on the planned production list, priced starting from 875,000 GBP.
