Aston Martin previewed the production-ready Valhalla supercar this summer, but it now turns out the first deliveries will not be made until at least H2 2024. Speaking in an interview with Motor Trend, Carlo dela Casa – the Project Development Manager – explained why the wait was worth it.
Apparently, the British sports car maker aims to made the model even lighter, more powerful and faster than originally planned. Last year, the company said it was using a 4.-liter twin-turbo V8 sourced from Mercedes-AMG and teamed up with electric motors for around 950 horsepower total. Thanks to improvements made to the gasoline engine since then, the total output shapes up to be around 100 hp higher than that.
As well, the car now benefits from a new carbon-fiber monocoque that weighs almost two-thirds of its original amount, coming in under one centner (220 lbs). The downforce at 240 km/h (149 mph) now amounts to 650 kilograms (1,433 lbs), a significant improvement over the 600 kg (1,322 lbs) from before.
According to a representative of the company, working on the Valhalla and finding different ways to improve it ultimately convinced the manufacturer that a few special editions were in order. Some of them may end up marked with the company’s AMR badge.
