Aston Martin Valhalla unveiled at last

Aston Martin has finally taken the wraps off Valhalla, its first production supercar that can be driven in all-electric mode. The assembly is slated to begin in Q2 2025, and no more than 999 units will be made.

The innovative EV combines a 4.0-liter V8 with as many as four electric motors. The engine alone pumps out 828 PS (817 hp / 609 kW), making it the company’s strongest so far in terms of power-to-weight ratio. It is based on an old cylinder block, but benefits from redesigned turbochargers, a flat crank and a dry sump, among other improvements.

The four e-motors drive the output further up to 1,079 PS (1,064 hp / 794 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to them, the car hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.5 seconds and can attain a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

The main engine is mounted behind the seats in a transaxle fashion. A new eight-speed dual-clutch transmission carries the momentum to the wheels. One of the e-motors is built straight into the drivetrain, while two others drive the front wheels. They can vary their output independently from each other for precise torque control and let owners drive their supercar in all-electric mode – but not for long.

Specifically, the car is restricted to 140 km/h (87 mph) in this mode and runs out of charge after just 14 kilometers (8.7 miles). Aston Martin hasn’t mentioned how large the battery pack is. It did say that the transmission doesn’t have a reverse gear in it, so all reversing is done using the dual front motors.
