Aston Martin Valkyrie makes an entrance at the F1 Gran Prix

Spectators of the 2019 Formula One Silverstone race that took place on Saturday, July 13, had a unique opportunity to witness the fabled Aston Martin Valkyrie in motion. The hypercar, which is still under development by F1 racecar expert Adrian Newey, rolled out onto the track to general applause.

The vehicle comes powered by a hybrid powertrain dominated by the superb Cosworth V12 engine. Believe it or not, the mill can rev up to 11,000+ RPM and join forces with electric motors to deliver up to 1,160 horsepower (865 kilowatts) to the wheels.

Since the Valkyrie is a joint project between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, it wore a Red Bull-inspired livery during the reveal.

Chris Goodwin, a test driver employed by Aston Martin, piloted the car. He gave a brief yet concise verdict when asked how it felt: ‘Absolutely special.’

At U.S. $3,200,000, the Valkyrie is beyond the reach of most buyers except the richest ones. The production quantity is a meager 150 units, but you wouldn’t be able to grab your own copy even if you robbed a bank, since the entire series is already sold out.

The Valkyrie will next travel to Milton Keynes, England, for a series of new tests and improvements. The company also thinks about building a dedicated race-only version of the hypercar that would take place in the FIA WEC Championship.
