1,155-PS, $3M Aston Martin Valkyrie hits production in Gaydon, UK

Aston Martin has begun assembling its new Valkyrie hypercar in Gaydon and shown the first finished example ready for delivery.

Work on the Valkyrie started five years ago. A total of 150 units will be built and sold starting from the equivalent of $3 million USD each.

The car is a hybrid based on a 6.5-liter Cosworth V12 capable of revving up to 11,000 RPM and an electric motor. Their combined output amounts to 1,155 PS (1,140 hp / 850 kW), which a seven-speed DCT sends to the rear axle.

A dedicated production facility had to be outfitted for the model in the marque’s HQ. All cars are being put together by qualified experts, and each needs around 2,000 hours to be complete.

The first production vehicle has just rolled off the assembly line and is readying for its pre-sale track tests. The company says that all cars will be tested on the racetrack before delivery, so buyers will have to wait a few weeks longer for the delivery. All 150 units were sold out in pre-orders long ago.

Aside from the standard Valkyrie model, the lineup will include 40 AMR Pro racecars with improved aerodynamics and no electric motor on board. 85 open-topped Valkyrie Spider Hybrids will be made as well, and the company claims each will be able to reach 330 km/h (205 mph) without the roof.
